Why weren't we taught about black history when we were at school ?

That's why there are so many racists in the country, the white supremacy thing & all that... remember how the Native Americans (American Indians... the true Americans) were rounded up & put into a reservation? Now, the blacks & the chinese from the older generations were also part of the people who helped built America, so why should these people not deserve a mention, or a place in their history? It stupid to say... "it's not our heritage", after all America is a 'Land of Many Peoples', besides being the 'Land Of Many Opportunities'. The white Americans (as well as the black Americans) are after all immigrants from other countries around the world.
